DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR MONEY by .. MzWit (North Dakota)
Everything about Zune sucks - so please don't waste your money! The device is flawed, the software sucks, and the social is a joke! Save yourself a lot of frustration and steer clear of Zune.
Are u serious?! by .. Robert C. Mustain (Bagram, Afghanistan)
How is this possibly $549... is that a typo or somthing? Two weeks ago it was less than $280 brand new.
Zune Opinion - 6 months in by .. Derek Proud (Seattle, WA United States)
I've had my Zune for about 6 months now, and it has fast become a valuable and entertaining part of my tech. I was previously attracted to the alternative the Zune gave to the iPod, as the items were previously pretty similar.
However, now that the Zune 3.0 software has been released, it's versatility has increased dramatically. Things such as the Channels, which provide you with a list of songs each week that conform to a theme of your choosing. The Pics section, which provides suggestions for you based on your current listening habits, is a great way to explore new music. I'm not using the buy from FM (a feature which tells you what song and arist you are listening to on the radio, and gives you the option to buy it) or the Zune Marketplace (which allows you to buy songs over a wifi connection and instantly download them), but I can see how they would be useful to others.
But the killer app that compliments all these features is the Zune Pass, which for a monthly fee allows you to download as many songs as you like. This makes finding and trying new music interesting, fun and legal.
I find it amazing how much this device has changed since I bought it, both on the Zune hardware side, and the software side. If they continue to expand this versatility I think I will be owning my Zune for a long time to come.
I'd heartily recommend the Zune to anyone wanting to expand their music collection and expose themselves to new artists and styles. If that's you, then the Zune is your device.

Zune 80 GB Digital Media Player, Red (2nd Generation)
The Zune 80gb is awesome. I've had the device for a month now and I love it. It's well worth the price, although I paid less than the advertised price.
Battery life or defective product? by .. D. S. Coffey (Spring,TX USA)
I initially purchased the 80gb Zune through Amazon.com as a *new* product about 6 weeks ago, and at the time it offered the lowest price out there at $199 w/no tax or shipping. After about 2 weeks of waiting, I received this supposedly new product, only to find the top of the item where the lock switch is located was totally scratched up! I immediately mailed it back to Amazon for a full refund, as I did not want to wait another 2+ weeks for yet another possible "used", "new" item.
At about that time I returned the Zune, Microsoft released the 120gb, thereby reducing the price on all their Zunes by about 25%. So, off to Wal-Mart I went, where I purchased the 80gb for $198, plus tax. I've now had the Zune for about 2 weeks, and I had the battery die after only using it about a total of 1 hour. Granted, it sat in my bag for about 10 days without the lock on it, so it's possible that the battery just drained from nonusage. After charging it, (and it took a LONG time before the battery charge light would actually appear on the screen), I then downloaded some songs for a few hours and went to listen to it afterward. After about 20 minutes of listening, the Zune froze mid-song, shut off, and would not turn back on no matter what I did. There was no warning that the battery was running low. Zip. It wasn't until I plugged it in to charge that I discovered the battery was low. I'm thinking that I got a defective Zune and will return it to Wal-Mart this morning and get a new one to re-load my 150 or so songs. I have to say, I purchased this Zune as a replacement to my Dell DJ (20gb), and I never had these problems with my Dell in the 4 years I owned it. Here's hoping for a non-defective Zune when I exchange it today. Sheesh!
